The problem

People in Saudi Arabia who wanted to cook healthier at home had recipe apps written in English around Western diets and calorie counting. Nothing walked them through a halal, everyday dish step by step in their own dialect, or turned the week's meals into a shopping list. The startup had a finished design in Figma and no app, no backend, and no way for its team to manage recipes and content.

What we built

  • People set up a nutrition profile at onboarding, with a goal, diet style, cuisines, allergies and dislikes, and see meals that fit it.
  • They browse a bilingual halal recipe catalogue, save favourites and cook in a step-by-step cooking mode with voice guidance and timers.
  • They build a weekly plan by picking days, slots and meals, or let the planner generate one from their profile.
  • The grocery list builds itself from the meals they picked.
  • Push notifications and an in-app inbox carry announcements from the team.
  • The team manages recipes, ingredients, users, home banners, planner picks, broadcasts, blog posts and maintenance mode from an admin dashboard.
  • A bilingual marketing site with a blog, Arabic first and English at /en.
  • The recipe catalogue is seeded from public recipe databases and topped up with hand-written Zadi meals, all served by one API.

Outcome

Live on the App Store and Google Play since June 2026, in Arabic and English. By September it was on version 1.6 and still shipping, with the team running recipes and content from its own dashboard.
